about

Presenting a much-awaited return, Sasha's 2009 pick for breakthrough DJ/producer Nomad In The Dark is back on Dance Artifakts. Cloaked as The Antilope for his 'Records of the Western Regions' EP the producer delivers a captivating package as our latest collection defies the imagination with gripping storytelling and a luscious array of sounds.

Initiating proceedings, 'Stress Fracture' calls to listeners with broken vocals, drawing them inside whirring cogs that turn and grind warm, reflective chord swells before mechanized low-end wobbles push us through a factory of mesmerizing shapes and colors. With every unexpected twist, The Antelope refreshes the image before us, generating a unique sensation that can only be compared to being trapped inside the most wonderful kaleidoscope in existence.

In 'Pergamon ' biding its time with expertise, expanding inadvertently as it burrows deep in our subconscious with therapeutic passages before unleashing a thumping bassline, coercing us to move and contort in an unpredictable, yet most welcoming manner.

As the plot thickens, the aptly named 'Spectra' sees The Antilope awakening the ghost in the machine with a myriad of sonic apparitions and energetic surges that burn slow in the twilight as arresting atmospheres tug with fervor, defrosting yesterday's emotions. Left-fielded, yet close to home, 'Spectra' stands out as one of the most introspective pictures in 'Records of the Western Regions'.

As most imaginations on the EP, the closing act'Ecumenical', skipping kicks and skittish percussions tread over a dense, hazy atmosphere, uncovering undulating melodic shards with each passing beat as it subdues fears and doubts in its fulgor. At its core, 'Ecumenical' presents us with a glorious moment of peace that makes us feel like every moment traversed was designed for us to reach this place and bathe in cascading serenity.

Undated, The Antelope's 'Records of the Western Regions' EP is a convergence of past, present, and future, that Dance Artifakt promises to preserve for all to enjoy.
